About Cafe Noire

Not your average coffee shop.

Cafe Noire is a coffee shop in Brooklyn, New York. It is listed at 421 Court St, Brooklyn, NY 11231, which places it among the local businesses of Brooklyn that residents and visitors turn to when they need this kind of service close by.

Coffee in the United States is served by three kinds of places: national chains with drive-thrus and mobile ordering, independent neighborhood cafes that double as a workspace or a meeting spot, and specialty shops that roast their own beans or buy single-origin lots and brew them by pour-over, espresso or cold brew. Most open between 6 and 7 a.m. on weekdays, slightly later on weekends, and the busiest hour is the commute rush before 9. A drip coffee runs a few dollars, espresso drinks and specialty pours more, and tipping a dollar or a percentage on the card reader is customary but not required. Nearly every cafe offers free Wi-Fi, though some limit laptop seating at peak times or on weekends, and outlets are often the scarce resource.

Hours are published for 6 days a week. Typical hours are 8 am–4 pm. Note that it does not open on Monday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (313) 898-5293. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. Its website is noireny.com, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.

On Google it holds a rating of 4.9 out of 5 from 47 reviews, which is a strong result for a coffee shop in Brooklyn and suggests consistent service.

Brooklyn is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Brooklyn follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

I had an iced vanilla latte with oat milk. 10/10

Espresso was sour and under-extracted. The cappuccino was improved with sugar. I was also annoyed that the signage indicated pastries but they don’t actually carry pastries. When the barista informed me of this and I pointed out the signage indicated they have pastries, he simply said β€œit does .πŸ€·πŸΏβ€ the atmosphere is cozy and comfortable although very small so don’t bring a big party.

Incredible Black-owned coffee shop by two-Michelin-starred chef and James Beard awardee Charlie Mitchell -- what have we done to deserve such a place πŸ™πŸΎ

Great cafe in Brooklyn by a rarely seen owner/operator. Go for the specialty coffee but stay for the vibes. It's very NYC, and very Brooklyn.

There was this cool boy that worked there with long hair he was different and so was the service, used to come every morning for a vanilla Latte and he did it amazing. Now it’s just a dull experience. Reminds me of the others around the area.
